Put your leadership and media communications talent to workfor the world's largest, most influential aviation association. With over415,000 members, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) is seeking aseasoned and savvy communications professional to plan, develop and implementour strategic public relations programs.

AsVice President of Media & Public Relations, you will establish, nurture andleverage effective relationships with key members of the media and community;plan, develop and implement public relations strategies and messages totargeted audiences; identify opportunities and issues of concern, andproactively design programs and situational responses to advance AOPA's imageand reputation to positively influence policy makers and the public.

You will work closely with the EVP of Communications and thePresident of AOPA to effectively communicate the President's message across allmedia, with emphasis on legislative policy; develop and implement communicationsstrategies to support policies, positions and programs, and effectivelycommunicate them to our various constituencies and audiences; measure andreport results and recommend follow-up actions; establish strategic directionfor association-wide public or member outreach initiatives while generating apositive awareness of and interest in general aviation with the public; manageexisting staff and all necessary infrastructures to facilitate execution of PRdepartment responsibilities.

Qualifications include a degree in Communications,Journalism, Public Relations, or similar field with emphasis on management andplanning; have a wide net of DC metro area media contacts; at least 10 years ofmanagement experience within these fields to include crisis communication,demonstrated writing and editing experience in speechwriting, press releasesand other materials for print and electronic media; strong, proven leadershipskills in developing issues-based messaging to targeted constituencies via themedia are essential, as well as excellent networking skills within the aviationand public relations community. An interest in General Aviation is a plus.
