Leading healthcare association, representing companies that deliver innovative medicines and healthcare products, is seeking a dynamic Vice President of Communications and Marketing. This fast-paced organization seeks an experienced individual with an interest in healthcare issues advocacy, federal and state public affairs campaigns, and national/local media relations.
Job Description: Successful candidate will develop, manage and implement communications strategies and programs in support of HDMA's mission and objectives. Identify and leverage appropriate organization and industry channels to effectively communicate HDMA's positions, policies and goals. Direct targeted public affairs and public relations programs on Capitol Hill, in the states, and across the healthcare supply chain. Responsible for national and state media relations and crisis management plans. Advise senior management on messaging, policies and issues positioning to ensure that communications are clear, concise and consistent, producing positive results. Oversee and prepare executive speeches, presentations, Board presentations, white papers, talking points, and other external marketing and communications program elements, to meet the association's strategic objectives. This position reports to the CEO.
Qualifications: College degree (B.A or B.S.) in public relations, communications or journalism, seven to ten years experience directly related to public relations, with at least five years demonstrated management experience in public relations and communications. Healthcare background a plus. Strong project management skills with the ability to organize, schedule and track projects through the various stages of production. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Thorough understanding and demonstrated skills in writing and editing for a variety of audiences. Knowledge of the systems and procedures involved in operating effective PR and marketing campaigns. Computer literate in Windows environment. Strong interpersonal skills to work with all levels of association staff, vendors, members, and other publics.
