The role will be located in our Washington, D.C. office. Some domestic and international travel will be involved.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for working closely with our Deputy General Counsel, AOG President and CEO to develop and implement the government affairs strategies for ACE's global business, both in Washington, D.C. and abroad. The primary focus will be on external affairs including representing ACE on trade related organizations and before foreign governments. China experience and expertise is a necessary component of this position.
The candidate will increase ACE's relationships and name recognition with U.S. and foreign governments, embassy officials, multilateral institutions and business groups and serve as an industry resource on trade issues, legal and regulatory developments and Washington based activities. Additionally, the candidate will engage U.S. and foreign governments, embassy officials, multilateral institutions and business groups on ACE's international market priorities. The candidate will influence the deliberative process to achieve desired results.
The candidate will develop new market entry plans with senior management and regional business units and troubleshoot strategies to resolve political and/or regulatory hurdles affecting ACE's existing operations. Finally, they will identify opportunities for ACE senior management to engage U.S. and foreign government officials, multilateral institutions and business groups to support ACE's priority international policy issues.
This position requires an accomplished candidate with strong academic credentials, a distinguished professional record, and a strong business orientation. The ideal candidate will have experience working with Congress or within a relevant agency such as USTR, Treasury or Commerce.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 15+ years of private and/or public sector experience in international trade issues.
- Bachelor's degree required/graduate or legal degree desired.
- Financial services experience a plus.
- Good relationships with Congressional offices and Administrative agencies that deal with international trade issues required.
- Proven leadership ability.
- Ability to take a collaborative approach to problem solving with comfort in working in amatrix environment.
- Strong conflict resolution skills.
- Comfort in dealing with senior management on a variety of complex issues; ability to communicate complicated concepts both through written and verbal means to the highest levels of senior management.
- Ability to manage multiple changing agendas in a fast paced environment.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate with and influence multiple stakeholders within the organization.
