Vice President, Grassroots Advocacy and Communication

Job description:

The vice president plays a critical role in developing strong advocate networks to enhance our client's advocacy and communications agendas through grassroots, grasstops and ally development.

A successful candidate will have strong experience in business development, strategic plan development, client service and project fulfillment.  The position is responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies to ensure positive and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders including state elected officials, government officials, the media, advocacy groups and industry partners.

Other duties include: creation of internal and external communications including position papers, testimony, talking points, blog posts, articles and other communication materials as needed.  In coordination with strategic communications, utilize online technologies, including use of social media platforms for communicating with external stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

- Eight to ten years of grassroots advocacy and communications experience with an agency, trade association, corporation, non-profit or political campaign

- Thorough understanding of the legislative and advocacy process.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills

- High degree of teamwork, organizational and project management skills

- Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities with high quality execution and performance

- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft office products, Adobe Acrobat and database management preferred

- Some travel required

College degree required

Location:

The position will be based at Kratos' corporate headquarters in Washington, D.C. and will report to the Managing Director of the Grassroots Network/Kratos South who is based in Atlanta.
