The Vice President and Global Head of Healthcare Communications manages the core processes determined for healthcare communications: media, advocacy relationships, employee communications, leadership visibility, consumer communications, crisis communications and editorial calendar management. He/she works closely together with the Philips Healthcare executive team as well as the Philips Board of Management and Group Management Committee.
The Vice President and Global Head of Philips Healthcare Communications designs and executes an overall regional communications strategy and tactics for business and corporate stakeholders, aligning the needs and requirements of the units of product divisions and country organizations in the region with each other, and with the Philips Group healthcare communications strategy, tactics and the functional targets set.
The Vice President and Global Head of Philips Healthcare Communications is located in the United States and leads a global communications team (external and internal) with team members in Europe, United States and Asia. His/her responsibility is to lead the team and develop its team members while being responsible for an annual communications budget of approximately USD 4 million. He or she should be willing to travel globally. He or she should be a seasoned communications professional with excellent personal skills. Deep knowledge of the healthcare markets around the world is a must while he or she should feel very comfortable in an international business climate
Main tasks of the job:
· Develops a global year plan, aligning the needs and requirements of the regions and countries with the Philips Group healthcare communications objectives. Has responsibility for the global healthcare communications budget;
· Realizes functional leadership for the healthcare communications around the world, managing and guiding regional and country organizations and divisional units where required. Advises and coaches the CEO and PD management teams on strategic and tactical healthcare communication issues;
· Proposes and executes opportunities in healthcare communications and provides consultancy to the healthcare business executives. Designs, executes and participates in healthcare communication programs and projects in collaboration with the regional and country communications and marketing teams, and Group functions;
· Maintains, develops and keeps global healthcare message guides, translates messages from the Group into regional messages and makes global message guides
· Supervises - within the framework of the company's Official Media Protocol and directives from Philips Corporate Communications - an orderly disclosure and effective dissemination healthcare related news and information, according to the policies, procedures and practices applicable and initiates healthcare media opportunities around the world;
· Maintains stakeholder relationships with our key target audiences (i.e. employees and external groups and institutions), which may influence the (public) perception of Philips Healthcare around the world. Where required, liaises with other functions such as Investor Relations, the Sustainability Office and Government Relations. Experience in public affairs, stakeholder relations or government affairs is a significant plus. The global head of healthcare communications should have a vision of communications that extends beyond traditional one-way media relations to encompass the key roles that thought leadership and stakeholder development play in supporting both products and corporate initiatives.
· In conjunction with the Philips Group framework, he or she organizes a system for tracking issues and measuring effectiveness of internal and external healthcare communications, reputation management and satisfaction of internal customers.
· Organizes crisis communications preparedness throughout the region via a formal, regularly trained scenario.
Job Requirements
· University degree in mass communications, journalism or other relevant subjects;
· Minimum 10 years experience in corporate communications or public relations or public affairs in an international (preferably corporate) environment.
· Strong leadership and managerial skills
· Fluent in written and spoken English.
· Strong writing and editing skills.
· Residency in the United States, close to the Healthcare business headquarters.
