The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP), a national professional association of pharmacists and other health care practitioners who practice in managed care settings, is seeking an experienced and motivated government relations professional to monitor relevant state legislation and manage its state/federal grassroots advocacy network.
Specific duties include:
Tracking and analyzing state legislative issues and trends to determine impact on the membership; drafting reports for internal & external distribution and coordinating strategy for advancing member interests on state legislative proposals; and working with coalitions and other organizations to coordinate state advocacy
Coordinating the development and implementation of a sustainable state-based grassroots advocacy program including educating members about the importance of public policy advocacy; motivating member participation in support of the organization's federal and state legislative agendas; recruiting grassroots and grasstops assets; and maintaining a participant database
Qualified candidates will have at least four years government relations experience preferably with a state or national health care association or advocacy organization. Strong written/oral communication, project planning and follow-through implementation skills are essential to the position. Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational skills.
