State Government Relations Analyst

The State Government Relations Analyst will assist the Manager, State Government Relations in analysis of state health policy, track state legislation on issues affecting family medicine, providing ad hoc research for AAFP's chapters in support of their governmental advocacy programs, drafting reports on current state health policy issues of concern (e.g. Patient-Centered Medical Home) for the Academy and it's chapters, and updating and reorganizing the State Advocacy web pages on http://www.aafp.org /. The position will report to the Manager, State Government Relations.

Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in an academic field directly related and essential to the job or through equivalent work experience plus at least four to six years related experience. State government relations experience with an interest in health care policy, or health care policy experience with an interest in state government relations helpful. The incumbent must possess a solid understanding of state-federal relations and roles in the policy-making process.

Strong knowledge of state health care issues, excellent communication skills, and the ability to be a lucid and grammatical writer. Computer skills needed include: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, electronic mail applications, database management functions, and internet research. Direct experience with Capitol Advantage software (CapWiz, Knowlegis), and CQ State Track legislative tracking system preferred.
