SR. VICE PRESIDENT & GENERAL COUNSEL, GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS

NAMA, the national trade association of the food and refreshment vending, coffee service and foodservice management industries, seeks a Sr. Vice President & General Counsel, Government Affairs, for our East office outside of D.C. who is a proactive advocate on national issues impacting our industry. 

Individual is responsible for overseeing all facets of the association's government affairs operations including but not limited to the following responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements NAMA's legislative strategy and representation of the legislative interests of NAMA's members.
  • Directs national effort to develop, implement and manage programs provided through the Association and Regional Offices to the various state councils and the vending industry.
  • Provides guidance and information in the role of legal and legislative counsel to NAMA state councils, enabling them to be more effective in representing the vending industry within their state.
  • Actively and effectively coordinates NAMA's legislation lobbying activities. Prepares and presents positions on legislative issues affecting our industry to Congress and state and local agencies.
  • Serves as the head federal spokesperson for the Association. Creates a favorable image of the Association in the federal capitol.
  • Maintains contacts with members of Congress and other people in key positions. Ensures that key figures are aware of the issues affecting our industry.
  • Supervises the regional offices and government affairs personnel with responsibility for training, monitoring, coaching and evaluating performance.
  • Leads Government Affairs Summit meetings with NAMA Coalition Partners and proactively works as a liaison with them for mutual benefit and favorable outcomes regarding legislative issues.

Requirements:

  • Ten plus years of Government Affairs at the federal, state and local legislature. Experience in business administration, lobbying and law. Association and industry knowledge preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or the equivalent. Law degree preferred.
  • Successful, proven background skills in leadership, negotiation, human relations & project management.
  • Must have key contacts on Capitol Hill.
  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to travel is required.
