Senior Vice President - International Affairs

Position: Senior Vice President - International Affairs

Organization: Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA)

Category: Global

Location:  Washington, DC

Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) is the leading voice advocating for public policies that foster medical innovation and the creation of new treatments and cures to help patients live longer, healthier and more productive lives.  PhRMA is conducting a search for a new Senior Vice President - International Affairs to lead its international policy and advocacy efforts.  Partnering and coordinating closely with the member company executives, others within PhRMA, as well as with other relevant global trade associations or in-country business entities, the SVP will lead the association's effort to use international public policy and advocacy tools to protect and advance the interests of the industry and PhRMA's members.  The new leader in this area will help ensure that PhRMA reflects and represents the true global mindset and perspective of its member companies.  For this important role, we seek an executive with expertise in global and U.S. government affairs as well as an understanding of the complex implications government affairs and policy issues can have on the pharmaceutical industry across a range of global jurisdictions.  He/She should have significant global experience, to include exposure to dealing with issues in developing countries.  While prior experience with health policy and/or the pharmaceutical industry is highly desirable, individuals who have experience representing industries that deal heavily with issues of tax, trade, intellectual property and counterfeiting could also be good candidates for this role.  Based in Washington, DC, this person will be a member of the organization's senior management team and will lead a team of approximately 20 individuals who are primarily located in Washington, but also abroad.
