Senior Vice President, Health Affairs

Position Overview

Reporting to the Group Director of the Health Affairs team, the Senior Vice President will advise clients on shaping health policy communications through coalition building, media relations, influencer management and grassroots advocacy.  You will use your proven strategic thinking and communications skills to act as a trusted advisor to client senior managers. You will lead the PR team for existing clients while leading new business pursuits, and you will use your strategic thinking skills to counsel client senior executives and help guide the future direction of the Health Policy Group. You will be a member of the leadership team in the Washington, DC office and participate in senior staff meetings. You will collaborate within the public affairs group in Washington, but also across offices, particularly with the healthcare practice based in New York.

Requirements

-15 years of relevant public relations and health public affairs/policy experience gained by working in a public relations agency, on Capitol Hill and/or in the public affairs department of a government agency; prior experience working in a public relations agency is required

-Experience with a range of health issues, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, insurance/payors and/or professional associations. Other areas of experience beyond health care are a plus, particularly in the areas of litigation support and food/nutrition.

-Experience working with advocacy groups in the context of client programs

-Demonstrated understanding of health policy communications and crisis and issue management practices

-Extensive experience in providing senior level strategic counsel to clients, particularly with regard to the impact of policy and regulatory impacts on their business

-Proven ability in developing and maintaining successful client relationships

-Proven business development record, including growing existing business and securing new business

-Demonstrated ability to mentor and inspire junior staff of various levels and skill sets

-Must be a strategic thinker and results oriented leader who is comfortable in a collaborative team environment
