Senior Manager, Communications

Overall Responsibilities:

Support Vice President of Communications in all aspects of network publicity.  Develop and manage communications and media relations for Nickelodeon Preschool Television, Nicktoons Network and online businesses.  Also support pr efforts for Nickelodeon Animation.  Externally, work with consumer print, parenting magazines, television, entertainment, trade, business and technology press.  Write press releases and other press materials.  Handle talent-related issues with respect to press.  Internally, work closely with Nick Preschool senior level executives and external partners to develop media strategy.  Oversee day to day press activity for Nickelodeon Preschool and Nicktoons Network.  Develop press materials for Nickelodeon Preschool and Nicktoons Network.  Work closely with media to gain coverage that supports all aspects of Nickelodeon Preschool and Nicktoons Network.  Work with Nickelodeon Photo Department on art needs.  Manage Jr. Publicist on all press activity and liase with Sr. Director, Publicity, Nick Animation in Los Angeles.

Specific Duties:

    Manage daily press responsibilities and activity for Nick Preschool and Nicktoons Network

  • Coordinate with and support all press effort for Nickelodeon Animation ( with LA)
  • Manage Jr. Publicist on all press activity
  • Work with programming, brand communications, online and other internal departments
  • Create, execute and pitch press releases

Job Requirements
  • 5-7 years PR experience in television communications, public relations, and/or media relations.
  • Strong writing and excellent oral communication skills
  • Ability to generate and present original work and concepts
  • Must have strong time management
  • Must have strong management skills
  • Strong knowledge of the PR field including experience in media relations, press strategy, development and execution of creative, strategic and well thought communication plans, executive and talent preparation, media training, story placement, and event coordination.
  • Strong interest and background in parenting press and children's television business including ratings; emerging technologies in the television field including digital services, HDTV and VOD; web and digital entertainment.
  • Significant understanding of the mechanics and business issues of television including programming, production, talent, producer relations, ad sales and affiliate relations.
  • Possesses positive relationships with major press outlets including parenting magazines, consumer print press, consumer TV, cable trades, business media and the ability to create new relationships on multiple media platforms.
  • Proven success as a manager and a leader as well as ability to support initiatives that require teamwork.
