The American Pharmacists Association (APhA), the national professional society of pharmacists, has an immediate opening for a Senior Lobbyist, Government Affairs. In this position, the Senior Lobbyist will provide leadership and strategic direction for the advancement of APhA's advocacy agenda, serve as lead voice with Congress, the Administration, Federal Agencies and States; direct communication of advocacy activities to members and potential members; and develop, maintain, and administer a collaborative and effective advocacy team to ensure that efforts are in alignment with APhA's mission. Qualified candidates must have a bachelor's degree, preferably in health, political science, public policy, pharmacy and/or related health care profession; advance degree preferred; combined law and public health degree a plus; minimum seven to ten years experience in health policy analysis of Government legislative and/or regulatory matters. Lobbying experience is mandatory with extensive congressional staff or congressional relations experience in health care issues; and strong Capitol Hill and Administration contacts. Candidates must also have a strong understanding of legislative and regulatory processes, grassroots advocacy, federal campaigns, fundraising, federal election law and compliance, and the ability to analyze political trends and analyze the impact of policies on membership.
