The Georgetown Center for Children and Families (CCF) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research and policy center at Georgetown University's Health Policy Institute whose mission is to promote the availability of comprehensive, affordable, quality health care coverage for children and families with a particular emphasis on implementation and policy issues related to national health reform, Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program, and employer-based coverage. CCF is seeking an experienced policy analyst to work on state policy initiatives and the implementation of the health care reform law as it relates to children and families. The ideal candidate will shape key elements of our work on health reform implementation at both the federal and state levels. A key aspect of the position is to support the work of state-based organizations that are actively engaged in these efforts.
Job responsibilities may include:
- Provide guidance and technical assistance to state-based organizations working on implementation of health care reform. This would include serving as the primary liaison with state groups engaged in these efforts, helping to develop strategic approaches to expanding and deepening state-level activity on coverage issues.
- Conduct research and analysis of key elements of the health reform legislation with a particular emphasis on provisions affecting children and families.
- Coordinate the children's health community in analyzing and commenting on regulations and guidance emerging on health reform legislation.
- Prepare and deliver speeches to represent the Georgetown Center for Children and Families at national and state-based forums and meetings on health care issues.
Successful candidates must be able to manage their own work plan and establish work priorities with little supervision. Candidates, at a minimum, must have a Master's degree and five years of work experience in health policy or a related field. Experience working on issues related to the Medicaid/CHIP programs and familiarity with the health care reform law is strongly preferred. The ability to work collaboratively with a range of groups is essential, along with strong analytic, writing and communication skills. Some travel will be required.
The position is located in Washington, DC. Salary is commensurate with experience. Georgetown University benefits apply.
