The position of Sr. Government Relations Specialist is responsible for executing the day to day operations of the corporate Political Action Committee (PAC), monitoring the corporation's research and response to formal inquiries from federal and state elected officials, and coordinating the regulatory efforts of the company. Additionally, this position will attend hearings, serve as a liaison between Government Relations and business units, and assist in supporting various State Affairs, Federal Relations, and corporate philanthropic efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Political Action Committee:
a. Manage solicitations, expenditures, and other functions of the PAC.
b. Monitor and manage reporting of PAC financial standing to executives.
c. Ensure proper compliance and reporting of all PAC activities.
d. Coordinate with vendors to manage PAC activities.
2. Constituent Inquiries:
- Receive, review, and coordinate corporate response to inquiries from elected officials.
- Work with management to ensure proper escalation and review of inquiries as appropriate.
- Serve as liaison with congressional and state legislator staff to address customer concerns.
3. Regulatory Process:
a. As needed, provide information and resources to support corporate efforts to assess and improve the regulatory environment.
b. Research and monitor proposed regulations to inform Legal, GR, and business units.
4. Support Government Relations:
a. Identify and execute projects to inform external audiences of relevant philanthropic or business initiatives that build the corporation's reputation.
b. Research and provide analysis of industry, political, legislative and competitive issues.
c. Interact with corporation employees to increase broad awareness and better manage political risk
MUST HAVE:
¨ Bachelor's Degree in Political Science or related field.
¨ 0-2 years of experience in politics or financial services.
REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
¨ Excellent written and oral communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office software is required.
¨ Ability to independently project manage is required.
¨ Understanding of political and legislative process is required.
¨ Ability to quickly understand and communicate financial services business practices is required.
DESIRABLE, BUT NOT REQUIRED, EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE:
¨ Capitol Hill or state legislature experience preferred.
¨ Previous PAC or communications experience preferred.
