Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) in Rockville, Maryland is hiring a Senior Communications Specialist to join the team in our Public Information Office. The MCPS Public Information Office handles internal and external communications for the school system and is the main source of information for the media, community, parents and employees.

Extensive experience in public relations, journalism and/or other communications-related fields is a must. The successful candidate will: - Be an excellent writer, who can quickly and accurately write press releases, speeches, web content, letters, TV scripts and more;

- Have an understanding of K-12 education issues or the proven ability to quickly and thoroughly comprehend complex issues and policy;

- Have experience planning press conferences, media availabilities and other events;

- Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and have the ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
