Our media relations professionals are responsible for cultivating media relationships for APCO clients, creating compelling story angles and ideas, pitching news stories; responding to media inquiries and writing and distributing media materials. Qualified candidates must have a proven track record of media relations results; some established media relationships; excellent writing and editing skills; knowledge of current news trends and themes; interest in social and environmental developments as they relate to business issues; and be eager to build new relationships with key journalists and media outlets.
Corporate responsibility focused managers may be responsible for managing projects and budgets, serving as a day-to-day client contact, developing and executing corporate responsibility strategies and programs including conducting targeted media relations, stakeholder mapping and engagement, issue management and identifying partnership opportunities and conducting outreach to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), governments, development organizations and corporations.
Successful candidates will have a bachelor's degree, 4-6 years of experience that includes issue based media relations, strategic communications, or corporate responsibility as well as proven project management experience, strong research skills and the ability to write both strategically and creatively under tight deadlines.
