The US-China Business Council (USCBC) seeks a research associate for the organization¡¦s Government Affairs and Business Advisory Services (GABAS) department in Washington, DC. GABAS works directly with USCBC member companies as the organization¡¦s research and advisory arm and conducts USCBC¡¦s advocacy with the US and PRC governments.
Founded in 1973, USCBC (www.uschina.org) is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan, member-supported organization and the leading organization of US companies engaged in business with the People's Republic of China. Through close collaboration among offices in Washington, DC; Beijing; and Shanghai, USCBC provides extensive China-focused information, advisory and advocacy services, and targeted events to more than 220 US corporations operating in the United States and throughout Asia.
Responsibilities - Research, analyze, and write on China business issues and related developments for specific member- company requests, longer-term research projects, and USCBC publications - Schedule and coordinate department meetings, programs, and events - Handle department administrative tasks including travel arrangements, publicizing recruitment of staff, taking notes, filing and organizing USCBC materials, and other administrative tasks as assigned - Assist with member recruitment through maintaining files and preparing briefing materials and recruiting packets - Other responsibilities as assigned by the vice president and the director of Business Advisory Services
Terms: This is a full-time position, with a starting salary is the mid-$30Ks depending on experience. Benefits include health insurance on a cost-shared basis, company-funded disability and life insurance, three weeks of vacation, sick leave, and SEP IRA retirement plan (effective after 12 months of employment). Potential for advancement within USCBC¡¦s Washington and China offices.

Qualification:
Qualifications - Strong China background with education or work experience in China - Proficiency in Mandarin (spoken and written) required - Familiarity with Washington, DC, policy climate preferred - Proven writing, analytical, and communication skills in English - Excellent organizational skills, with attention to detail - Experience with telephone outreach - Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team - US permanent work authorization required (citizen or Green Card holder)
