Research Assistant, Public Policy

The Center for Children and Families (CCF) is an independent, nonpartisan policy and research center at Georgetown University's Health Policy Institute whose mission is to promote the availability of comprehensive, affordable, quality health care coverage for families and children. We focus principally on issues relating to low-income children and families with a particular emphasis on implementation and policy issues related to national health reform, Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program, and employer-based coverage. We are seeking a Research Assistant to provide research and writing support to the organization's work.

The Research Assistant will:

  • Provide research support for projects, including written reports, presentations, and policy analysis, undertaken by CCF;
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a database for use on a 50-state survey;
  • Support monitoring activities associated with state legislative and administrative changes to child and family health coverage;
  • Assist in providing technical assistance to state groups working on child and family health coverage; and
  • Update and maintain web-based resources, data, and tools.

In addition to research and writing skills, the candidate should have an interest in and some familiarity with health policy issues.  He or she must be detail-oriented, exhibit strong initiative and follow-through, and enjoy working within a team environment. Candidates, at a minimum, must have some work experience and a bachelor's degree and ideally will have strong Excel and Access skills.

The position is located in Washington, D.C.. Salary is commensurate with experience.
