In response to a combination of rapid organic and acquisition-based growth, this group is looking for an ambitious Public Relations Specialist who will help support all aspects of our continued presence and growth in the online content world. The Public Relations Specialist will report to the Director of Public Relations for IAC Consumer Applications & Portals and will work closely with all of the brands and businesses in the group (as well as any newly acquired businesses and brands/businesses in our internal development pipeline) to assist with PR needs.
This position is based in White Plains, NY, where IAC CAP is situated. The office is a 5 minute walk from the Metro North White Plains station.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and facilitate relationships between IAC CAP and U.S. publications' market editors to ensure the correct positioning of the brand within the market.
- Prepare press releases by researching and writing promotional pieces; update executive biographies, and maintain the company press website.
- Communicate daily with consumer online media in order to maximize editorial coverage.
- Help to develop and maintain key editor relationships.
- Produce and distribute company publications by coordinating content production; arranging printing; coordinating mailing services.
- Provide immediate response to requests from publications and other companies for product and company background information.
- Assist the Director of Public Relations in producing and securing press for special events.
- Assist with implementation and support annual press strategies for each brand with particular focus on select publications.
- Strategize with various departments of IAC CAP, including marketing and business development, to create a unified and defined message for each brand.
The successful candidate should have the following:
- B.A. in Journalism, English, or Communications
- 2 - 5 years experience at a PR Agency
- Impeccable written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to think strategically and problem-solve with little notice
- Experience in promoting products and services to the online news media, blogs, webzines and social networks
- Experience in promoting online properties
- Good understanding of consumer news consumption across multiple markets and demographics
