Public Relations Account Executive / Senior Account Executive

Why did you get into PR? Did you do it because you love to learn new things about obscure and complex subjects? Did you do it because you love to research difficult issues and break them down in a way that's easy for regular people to understand?

At Sturges Word Communications, most of our clients do really complicated things and/or face really complicated challenges. They also do amazing work to make the communities they serve better places. We need a person with one to three years of full-time public relations experience who is equal parts detective, nerd, strategist, story teller, and social butterfly to join our team. This person will support on a variety of accounts and will primarily be responsible for the development and execution of day-to-day social and traditional media relations activities. In addition, this individual will assist in the creation of client plans and underlying strategy, and support the account team with routine client management tasks.

Of course we're looking for all of the standard PR things - We want you to sleep with a copy of the AP Stylebook under your pillow, enjoy developing relationships with journalists, be comfortable talking to strangers, have impeccable research and writing skills, adhere to the PRSA Code of Ethics, and have a baccalaureate degree in communication studies, journalism, marketing, political science, or another related field. Previous experience (and comfort) working with heavy industry, government agencies, utilities, or other highly regulated industries or professions is a big plus.

If your vision of PR is big-name consumer brands and red carpet openings, this isn't the gig for you. But if you love a good challenge and want to work in boutique integrated agency serving a diverse portfolio of clients, we'd love to hear from you.

To apply, email your résumé, a cover letter explaining why you pursued (and love) a career in public relations, and any relevant supporting information to Justin LaBerge, APR at justin@sturgesword.com.
