The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation is a global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV and AIDS, working in 17 countries and at 4,700 sites around the world to prevent the transmission of HIV to children, and to help those already infected. Today, because of the highly successful work of the Foundation and its partners, pediatric AIDS has been virtually eliminated in the United States. With a growing global staff of nearly 1,300-nine of 10 who work in the field-the Foundation's global mission is to implement prevention, care, and treatment; further advance innovative research; and to execute strategic and targeted global advocacy activities  to bring dramatic change to the lives of millions of women, children, and families worldwide. 

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Working closely with the Director of Public Policy, manage the Foundation's legislative and regulatory US-based priorities related to HIV/AIDS, children's health, and global and domestic research. 

Analyze cutting-edge HIV/AIDS and public health research findings for public policy implications and draft materials explaining significance of those findings, including one-pagers, talking points for senior Foundation leadership, issue briefs, policy reports, and journal articles.

Represent the Foundation in coalition efforts related to research and drug development issues, including the FAPP Research Working Group and the Global Health Technologies Coalition.

Work closely with Research Department and Director of Public Policy to identify and implement advocacy strategies related to pediatric HIV/AIDS research issues and broader international health priorities, including support of specific in--country advocacy activities. 

Research and draft materials to support Foundation domestic and global public policy agenda, including position statements and letters, congressional hearing questions, and talking points for Foundation leadership and Congressional staff. 

Identify and support key relationships with the Administration, Congress, and other international NGOs and partners.

Monitor relevant public health issues related to pediatric HIV/AIDS and identify opportunities for Foundation participation and leadership.

Collaborate closely with Communications team on e-advocacy work related to the domestic epidemic and research priorities and any relevant press opportunities.

Represent the Foundation at congressional briefings, Hill meetings, and international conferences.

Provide support for Foundation-sponsored and co-sponsored events and briefings, domestically and abroad.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required, with 3-4 years of experience in public policy, preferably with interest or experience in health research and/or drug development policies

Experience working with Hill staff, the Administration, and/or international NGOs

Outstanding oral and written communications skills

Ability to work comfortably as part of a small team with occasional overlap in issues/responsibilities

Good sense of humor, positive personality, and an ability to adjust and adapt to a changing work environment
