Public Affairs Director

The Public Affairs Director will support the company in its crisis and reputation management communications. Act as primary point of contact for media related to public affairs issues. Advise company leaders on areas of opportunity for maintaining company reputation and trust with Nordstrom customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Developing strategy and executing messaging for topics such as social responsibility, litigation, legislation and various customer and employee issues.
Managing crisis communications as they occur, developing messaging and utilizing proven PR experience to maintain company's reputation. This includes events such as natural disasters.
Acting as contact for media, including television when the subject is reputation based.
Advising company leaders regarding potential reputation busters such as patterns that may arise out of lawsuits, weakness in policies, pending legislation, etc.
Serve on Corporate Emergency Response Team (Corporate ERT).
Managing communications regarding all product recalls.
Managing communications regarding the company's Corporate Social Responsibility efforts.
Managing, coaching and developing the Public Affairs team.
QUALIFICATIONS:


5 - 10 years business media relations experience
5 - 10 years crisis communications experience, including using social media to enhance reach of messaging
Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills
Creative and strategic thinker
Able to counsel senior management and provide strategic input
On-camera experience with issues and/or crisis messaging
