Public Affairs Advisor

The Public Affairs Advisor is part of a team which works proactively to enhance ExxonMobil's reputation in the greater New Orleans/Chalmette community as a good corporate neighbor. Chalmette Area Public Affairs does this through gaining management commitment, workforce involvement, open, forthright and proactive communication, community relations, government relations, positive media relationships, crisis preparedness and continuous improvement.

Main Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will demonstrate a wide range of skills, will be an excellent communicator (oral and written), have proven experience, and degree level education in a related field (preferably post graduate). Candidates should have excellent client liaison skills and a proven track record in strategic and integrated communications along with experience in business development and media and government relations. Other helpful skill sets include budget management, interaction with non-profit organizations, management of contributions/operating budgets, advertising, emergency response communications, issues management, and strategic planning.

Environment:

The Chalmette Area Public Affairs team works in a very fast-paced environment where expectations are high. Applicants must be able to thrive in that environment.

Knowledge, Skills, & Experience:
  • Prior experience with internal and external communication required
  • Prior experience and excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Front Page helpful
  • Prior media experience helpful
  • Strategic planning experience helpful

Working Relationships & Team Working:

Positive working relationships within the Company and in the community are an essential feature of working within Public Affairs.
