The American
Dental Association is dedicated to promoting the public's
health through its initiatives in research, education, advocacy, public awareness
and the development of standards. We have an exciting opportunity for a
Project
Manager, Public Affairs and Professional Communications.
The position's main responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing
management support for public affairs and professional communications projects
with an emphasis on supporting the communications needs of the Division of
Government Affairs and the State Public Affairs programs; actively involved in
overall issues management through participation on issues teams and drafting
issues communications, preparation of communications plans, tracking projects
while securing approvals and coordinating the flow of information between the
Chicago based Department of Public and Professional Communications and the Washington
based Department of Public Affairs.
Requirements: The ADA

positions. This position has the following minimum requirements: Bachelor's
degree in communications, journalism, public affairs or related discipline and
a minimum of five years in public affairs, public relations, journalism or
related field with specific experience in managing multiple projects and
assignments OR in lieu of a degree, a minimum of seven years in a public
affairs, public relations, journalism or related field with specific experience
in managing multiple projects and assignments; previous experience working in a
fast paced team centric public affairs, public relations or other
communications working environment; must have a customer-focused approach to
meeting needs as an internal resource; strong ability to organize multiple
efforts, establish priorities, and manage workflow and processes; excellent
written and verbal communications skills; proven ability to work in a team
environment. Desirable skills include: Prior project management experience;
customer and/or account management or media/marketing planning
responsibilities; experience in health policy or related fields; local, state
or federal government agency communications experience. *This position is located
in the Chicago, IL office.
