Project Coordinator, Grassroots Advocacy

We have an excellent opportunity for a Project Coordinator, Grassroots for our National Center office in Washington, D.C.

The Project Coordinator, Grassroots will be responsible for managing and maintaining data in the online advocacy system that includes analysis and queries; generating standardized and customized reports; email blast set up and launch; website maintenance, preparing grassroots communications, assisting with social media accounts including tracking and assisting with grassroots event planning. This position is also responsible for general administrative duties including managing the department's budget process. The primary goal of the American Heart Association's You're the Cure grassroots program is to have a passionate and active volunteer network that activates on Heart and Stroke policy issues such as obesity prevention, access to quality care, and medical research funding.

Major Responsibilities Include:
1. Responsible for maintaining, reporting, and evaluation for the You're the Cure program including email metrics, target district assessment, goal reports, list management metrics, and social media evaluation
2. Responsible for implementing content on web platforms using CMS tools in addition to maintaining and organizing content on the internal site, SharePoint
3. Set-up and execution of regular email communications to You're the Cure advocates which includes querying ability
4. Serves as main point of contact to communicate online advocacy system changes and maintenance as well as provide ad hoc training for field staff
5. Administrative responsibilities include data entry, mailings, meeting logistics including conference assistance, budget tracking, invoice payment, and managing external vendors
6. Provides customer services to AHA staff and volunteers with general inquiries
7. Provides written content for various communications to You're the Cure advocates including AHA blog, e-newsletters, social media posts, and training guidance.
8. Serving as direct liaison between AHA staff, volunteers, departments and teams for stipend program, lobby day logistics and registration
9. Assist with the development and branding for program materials utilized by AHA staff and volunteers

Experience:
1. Bachelors degree required; two years grassroots, legislative, regulatory or administrative experience preferred
2. Ability to communicate, build relationships, gain trust, and effectively work with volunteers
3. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite products
4. Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects
5. Experience creating content for web pages using CMS tools
6. Excellent analysis skills and conceptual ability
7. Good customer service skills, ability to deal with difficult customers
8. Experience working in a team environment
9. Knowledge of the legislative process and experience working in a government relations environment is a plus
10. Experience working on healthcare issues particularly in the policy arena, preferred
11. Knowledge of online advocacy software tools a plus, specifically DDC
12. Experience with community organizing and volunteer management is a plus
13. Experience in utilizing data to run queries and produce charts/reports, Excel knowledge a plus
14. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, including occasional evenings and weekends
