Project Coordinator

Kellogg Company has an exciting and unique opportunity in Government Relations for a Project Coordinator at our Battle Creek, MI Headquarters. This role will independently manage the company's political action committee (PAC), the Kellogg Company Better Government Committee (KCBGC) and acts to ensure sound financial management of both the federal and state accounts. The Project Coordinator monitors lobbying activities and campaign finance regulations for federal, state and local law compliance deadlines and submits all compliance reporting as required by law.
Responsibilities Include:
Autonomous administration of the Kellogg PAC

  • Continues development and administration of a corporate solicitation campaign
  • Communication with PAC members in regard to KBGC strategy and activities via mail and intranet
  • Prepares all documents and coordinates information for KBGC leadership committee
  • Organizes annual KBGC leadership meeting and processes resolutions to bylaws
  • Maintains contribution budget
  • Processes monetary contributions and disbursements
  • Reconciles financial documents and bank statements
  • Annual renewal of employee contributions

Prepare and submit all lobbying and campaign finance reports on behalf of Kellogg's
  • Submits all compliance reports with various federal, state and local authorities in compliance with all legal requirements
  • Responsible for staying abreast of reporting/compliance changes and law
  • Monitors lobbying activity for federal and state law compliance

Government Relations Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of issues briefs and letters on behalf of Kellogg's
  • Correspondence with members of Congress, state and local agencies and members of their staff
  • Develop and disseminate communications to Kellogg employees in regard to Government Relations topics and events
  • Develop and maintain a Government Relations web-site for use by Kellogg employees
  • Manage a Government Relations intern, including the recruitment and interview process

Other Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide administrative support to Interim Director, Government Relations and manages other aspects of the government relations department. Assist with other administrative duties within the Global Government Relations department as requested.
  • Work with Washington DC office for alignment and issue discussion
  • Develops and executes yearly communication and solicitation campaigns.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field such as government/public policy, political science or law is preferred.
  • Legislative experience, working knowledge of VOCUS computer database, and of FEC law and filing requirements a plus.
  • Candidate must be able to demonstrate an aptitude for independent organization coupled with excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office products. Must have knowledge of how to navigate the internet and office equipment including scanners, printers, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and perform effectively under deadline pressure and the willingness to work overtime are required.
  • Candidate must have an understanding of Political Action Committees (PAC) and ability to apply local, state and federal requirements for political activity disclosure and reporting.
  • Government Relations reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for all government relations issues worldwide. A high degree of confidentiality is required in dealing with governmental and company issues. Candidate must be mature and discreet.
  • Due to the numerous contacts with the executives of the Company, outside legal firms, and high level government officials, both domestic and foreign, diplomacy and good judgment are also required.
  • Minimal Travel Required, less than 10%
