(Part Time, Grant Funded)
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has a part-time opportunity for a professional to promote teen driver safety advocacy/public policy initiatives for the AAP-Allstate Foundation campaign. This role will manage the campaign and support its related activities, monitor state government initiatives and trends, implement AAP policy objectives at the state level, and conduct related advocacy education and training initiatives.
Prime responsibilities include the coordination and administration of the grant application process by AAP chapters in conjunction with Allstate Foundation staff. Develop state profiles, resources, and work plans to advance state teen driving issues, with special emphasis on improvement of graduated driver's license programs and provide advocacy consultation to AAP chapter members, coalition partners, state officials, and other stakeholders to promote initiatives, as well as coordinate and support state-level, AAP chapter-initiated stakeholder meetings and conference calls.
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in public policy, government relations, political science, or a related field required; Masters degree preferred. A minimum of 2 years experience in nonprofit project management and state-focused advocacy required. Experience in injury prevention/safety issues preferred. Must be able manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet existing project deadlines. Occasional travel and weekend work required and must be able to work 30 hours per week.
