Our client is a global brand name within the consumer products marketplace and a multi billion world leader and innovator.  This is a newly created position reporting to the CEO for the Middle East region.

The ideal applicant will be degree/Masters educated, with foreign service/diplomatic experience gained within the region working within public and private sector ideally with a multinational brand name.  This may include time spent as a lobbyist or in some other political role, which entails influencing government ministries in matters of change within the MEA region.  You must of course be fluent in both English and Arabic.

You will proactively advise our client on government legislative and regulatory affairs (not purely regulatory compliance) within a trade/B2B context, providing legal and government affairs guidance on a variety of issues including environmental and energy. In this respect you will work closely with your colleagues in Corporate Strategy and Development.  You will be extremely well connected, familiar with moving and developing strategic relationships in the upper echelons of Middle Eastern government, business and society. You will of course possess an intuitive understanding of the political trends and alliances globally and there impact and influence within the Middle East region.

The Role:

  • Identify opportunities to facilitate business growth through regulatory and procurement policy.
  • Build an effective Government Relations Program
  • Gain access and discuss legislation and trade regulations with a view to influence decisions / legislation
  • Serve as regulatory counsel across all product lines and participate as a member of the organisational legal team especially in the field of IP
  • Analyze the potential impact of government policies and proposed policies on the affairs of the company and its business units.  Inform relevant senior executives of these policy impacts so related business decisions can be implemented in a manner most conducive to business success.
  • Develop and maintain personal relations with key stakeholder / decision makers within Government, NGO's, etc
  • Serve as a primary representative of the organisation to the Government, NGO's, etc.
  • Lobby and influence government on legislative and regulatory issues that have a commercial value for the organisation.
  • Monitor current political developments (macro, as well as individual countries) to determine the impact of these developments.
  • Maintain contact and liaison internally with global government relations officers around the organisation and senior executives to exchange information and coordinate policy initiatives on a multinational basis.
