OVERALL FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Washington, D.C. office of Skadden Arps has an opening for a Political Reports Analyst (the "Analyst") for its Political Law Department.  The principal job responsibilities include preparing lobby and PAC reports on behalf of clients.  The position has significant contact with Fortune 500 company clients.

The Analyst also has responsibility for

• Maintaining working knowledge of lobby and campaign finance reporting guidelines at the federal, state and local levels as well as tracking reporting deadlines and relaying information to clients on a routine basis.
• Preparing lobby registrations on behalf of clients, including, but not limited to, renewals, amendments and terminations.
• Preparing and filing both lobbyist and lobbyist employer activity reports.
• Assisting senior attorneys with the pre-approval of contributions, including verification of contribution activity against statutory limits.
• Maintaining databases of PAC, corporate and individual contributions and alerting clients of all relevant reporting requirements.

• At least four years of lobby and PAC compliance experience.
• Working knowledge of federal, state and local lobby reporting rules.
• Working knowledge of federal, state and local campaign reporting rules.
• Effective interpersonal and written communication skills to facilitate working relationships with attorneys, clients, colleagues and support staff.
• Ability to communicate with and obtain information from the personnel of state and federal regulatory agencies.
• Proficiency with lobby and PAC reporting software, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Ability to work extensive hours as needed.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Ability to exercise discretion and show good judgment.
• Outstanding organizational skills.
• A Bachelor's degree; an advanced degree will be taken into consideration.
