Current Need
Proven project manager/programs administrator required to develop and administer McKesson's employee political involvement programs, including the political action committee (PAC), grassroots programs, and corporate political contributions. This individual will manage day-to-day PAC activities and support the PAC Board of Trustees. Responsibilities also include coordination and development of employee political awareness communications and grassroots programs.
Position Description
Key Responsibilities:
75% - Manage the administration of the PAC to ensure sound financial management and compliance with applicable federal, state and local election laws. Plan and conduct yearly corporate PAC solicitation campaign. Research and prepare evaluations on proposed candidates; manage disbursement of all PAC contributions in conjunction with VP, Public Affairs. Prepare and maintain annual budget for PAC activities. Produce internal PAC reports, communication materials and analyses. Manage and perform financial transactions, including recording and verifying contributions and distributing funds to campaign committees. Coordinate and manage all phases of meetings and event planning for the PAC, such as fundraisers, political receptions and education events. Represent the PAC as needed before all levels of employees.
15% - Manage the grassroots database. Enhance grassroots efforts by developing strategy to identify and educate McKesson executives across the country on key public policy issues. Develop and manage grassroots initiatives, including preparation of materials and appropriate activities. Collaborate with community relations department to enhance the visibility of corporate philanthropic programs and related contribution activities.
5% - Develop and administer a corporate-wide "get-out-the-vote" campaign designed to broaden employee awareness about issues and voting requirements and to encourage voting. Research and maintain files on issues and candidates; disseminate information as appropriate to employees.
5% - Assume other responsibilities as requested in support of the department's goals and objectives.
Additional Knowledge & Skills
- Strong project management, coordination, and/or administration experience a must
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask independently and demonstrate sound judgment
- Strong attention to detail and timing as well as excellence in execution
- Proven organizational, research and analytical skills
- Ability to work and contribute in a highly collaborative, team environment
- Working knowledge of computer databases, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint
- Understanding of and ability to apply local, state and federal requirements for political activity disclosure and reporting
- Understanding of political and legislative processes
- Proven success in a small department with wide-ranging responsibilities
- Ability to reflect and demonstrate McKesson I CARE employee principles: integrity, customer-centered, accountability, respect and excellence
Minimum Requirements
3-5 years work-related experience as a project manager/administrator in a fast-paced corporate government relations environment or a blend of political action committee, political fundraising and campaign management experience.
Education
BA/BS degree with strong background in communication and/or political science OR equivalent work-related experience.
