Political Action Committee Manager

Due to Bridgepoint Education's success with its leading-edge educational format, the position of Political Action Committee (PAC) Manager has been newly created.  This position reports to the Vice President, Government Affairs, is responsible for creation of the employee Political Action Committee and its day-to-day operation, including membership recruitment, membership activities, financial operations, and special events.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a company-wide employee Political Action Committee (PAC).
• Plan and conduct PAC recruitment campaigns including designing, implementing and measuring PAC membership campaigns, developing materials and brochures, working with Human Resources to identify solicitable class, recruiting members, responding to PAC concerns/questions, and creating PAC website.
• Execute day-to day activities of employee Political Action Committee (PAC) including operation of PAC database, producing internal PAC reports, newsletters, political analysis, planning PAC Board meetings, and PAC membership activities.
• Manage all financial aspects of the Bridgepoint PAC including logging receipts, writing contribution checks to political candidates with PAC approval, balancing bank account, and assuring that reporting requirements are met in an accurate and timely manner. Work with our outside PAC legal firm to insure full compliance with all regulatory and audit requirements, particularly those of the Federal Election Commission and state election commissions.
• Plan and implement company-hosted fundraisers and site visits for Government officials or candidates.
• Work with the Government affairs Director (s) to develop annual PAC contribution budget/ Candidate selection process by researching information on candidates, their races/opponents, and other relevant information to allow Board to make sound decisions.
• Participate with and support members of the Government Relations team in executing an overall political strategy to advance the company's interests.
• Manage a staff of up to two people to best implement PAC recruitment, PAC campus events, PAC compliance and other political affairs activities. Insure development of this entry level team in an effort to build strong bench strength within the very technical PAC arena.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in political science, public policy, communications, finance or equivalent field.
• Proven success in managing or building PAC or PAC programs
• 3 - 5 years of state or federal PAC experience, campaign or political experience.
• Self-starter willing to take initiative and work hard.
• Team player who seeks to become an integral part of an active government relations team.
• Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft operating programs - Word, Outlook, Excel Publisher and PowerPoint
• Ability to work with staff at all levels of the corporation.
• Capacity to juggle competing priorities.
• Some travel required, but fairly minimal.

Preferred qualifications:

• Knowledge of software packages including FEC files and Lobby Tools
• Management experience
• Experience working with outside counsel on PAC related matters
• Experience in corporate PAC environment - multi state and federal
