Policy Intern

This internship will support the federal, state and advocacy work of the ZERO TO THREE Policy Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the coordination and planning of Congressional Baby Caucus briefings and events.
  • Attend other briefings hosted by national early childhood organizations and Congressional Committee hearings on early childhood issues
  • Research current early childhood issues in Congress and help to prepare federal legislative updates for the Baby Monitor
  • Conduct and synthesize research in response to requests from Members of Congress
  • Write a feature article and state profiles for the Baby Monitor, an electronic newsletter that has approximately 9,500 subscribers
  • Help accomplish a comprehensive update of our state initiatives database, including revising existing entries and making a call for new entries through the Baby Monitor. 
  • Help to prepare for upcoming policy/advocacy trainings and meetings

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including writing, editing and proofreading  
  • Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple and changing responsibilities effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office

 

Education

  • Junior/Senior Undergraduate Student or Graduate Student in a related field
