Securing America's Future Energy (SAFE), a nonprofit organization committed to reducing America's dependence on oil in order to improve U.S. economic and national security, seeks an energetic policy and communications writer to assist with the activities of SAFE, and its partner organization, the Electrification Coalition.
Working in conjunction with policy, fundraising, and communications staff, this position will develop, write, and edit the organization's wide variety of material, including the following: policy reports and briefs, speeches for organization executives and coalition members, talking points and press releases, Congressional testimony, member and donor communications, marketing material for events, blog postings and web content.
In addition, this position will also assist the VP of Communications with advancing the efforts of a bipartisan coalition of prominent leaders, through event development, press conferences, and media relations.
Qualified candidates will possess exceptional writing and editing skills, creativity, the ability to work under tight deadlines, and the willingness to go the extra mile to get results.
Strong preference will be given to those candidates who several years in an advocacy/writing position, including having worked as a speechwriter or in a congressional office. Familiarity with energy issues and an understanding of the federal legislative process are also desired.
