Allina Commons is the Minneapolis-based headquarters of Allina Hospitals & Clinics, a not-for-profit health care organization serving patients and communities. Approximately 1,600 corporate and administrative service employees work at offices within Midtown Exchange, site of the historic Sears retail complex at Chicago Avenue and E. Lake Street. This community landmark, adjacent to the campus of Allina's Abbott Northwestern Hospital, is the second largest building in Minnesota and includes offices, an internationally themed public market and residential units.
Responsibilities
The Senior Policy Analyst will be responsible for developing and coordinating execution of Allina's public policy agenda in collaboration with Allina's clinical and operational leaders, employee advocates and engaged communities.
Job Details
o Facilitates the development of Allina's state and federal policy agendas to advance Allina's mission.
o Works extensively with Allina's leadership teams, key physicians, strategic planning and the Center for Healthcare Innovation, Community Benefit functions to create new policy dialogue around health care innovation.
o Conducts policy analysis and researches emerging issues to equip Allina leaders for advocacy.
o Develops and execute coordinated lobbying campaigns to advance Allina's agenda.
o Monitors state and federal political scene.
o Tracks, analyzes and identifies opportunities to influence major health policy.
o Establishes and maintains relationships with key legislators, staff and agency leaders.
o Lobbies state and local government to advance Allina's mission.
o Engage employees and board members in public policy and advocacy.
o Foster relationships between Allina leaders and public officials.
o Positions Allina's experience with health innovation to inform and educate policymakers.
o Prepares and facilitates participation in key state policy work groups.
o Fosters and maintains relationships with government affairs officers within the health industry, trade and policy organizations.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
o Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Political Science or health sciences
o 6-10 years experience in health policy, health industry lobbying
o Demonstrated experience influencing public discourse, public policy or a particular piece of legislation
o Demonstrated experience in health policy analysis
o Extensive knowledge of the legislative process and health policy issues
o Previous lobbying experience required
o Strong project management, organization, and written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills required
