Overview:
The Political Action Committee (PAC) Manager will manage a Fortune 500 retail Company's political activities, which include the PAC and corporate political contributions. The PAC Manager is responsible for the continued growth of the Fortune 500 retail Company's PAC (PAC), from strategy formulation and program implementation to account management, solicitations, and donor recruitment. The PAC Manager coordinates events, represents the Fortune 500 retail Company at PAC-hosted events and programs, and is responsible for planning and supporting its annual fundraising campaigns. The PAC Manager is required to keep accurate and detailed records of all PAC transactions and to timely prepare, process and file FEC reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. This position is located in downtown Washington, DC.
Requirements:
Bachelors Degree
Minimum 5 years of work experience in government relations, political fundraising, or political campaigns.
In-depth understanding of political and legislative processes. Working knowledge of local, state and federal requirements for political activity disclosure and reporting, to include FEC laws and filing requirements.
Strong verbal and written communications skills, and comfort interacting directly with corporate executives.
Ability to work under pressure and coordinate a multitude of ongoing projects with exceptional attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and in database management.
Willingness to travel domestically.
Desired Skills:
Experience working on Capitol Hill.
Experience in fundraising, working on a Political Action Committee, or lobbying.
Law degree or master's degree in political science, communications or other applicable field.
The major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Member Support and Fundraising and Communications:
Develop of an aggressive plan for PAC recruitment and customer service for existing PAC members. Work with the PAC committee on recruiting donors and hosting events in their local areas. Coordinate correspondence with and tracking and profile management of existing donors. Effectively target member involvement through letters, phone calls, emails, and other solicitation materials. Provide PAC members with information concerning various fundraising programs and contribution levels, including written reports, web alerts, (news columns, marketing packets, brochures and social media).
Develop annual PAC budget and make recommendations of support for local, state and federal candidates, as well as corporate political contributions. Track all contribution requests and recommendations to PAC.
Work with consultants to develop and implement marketing strategies using new, innovative ideas for the PAC. Draft and execute PAC-related communications, including solicitation materials, website content, social media, newsletters, invitations, presentations, talking points and other materials as needed. Present PAC in and through multiple mediums, including to senior leadership, broad-based employee forums, on video and in print.
Plan meetings and events for the PAC, such as fundraisers, political receptions, and educational events.
Grassroots and Lobbying Support:
Work creatively with government relations team to utilize grassroots to enhance lobbying efforts. Maintain and grow Fortune 500 retail Company's grassroots network. Track and report on results of grassroots campaigns. Develop programs to alert groups on Fortune 500 retail Company's positions.
Compliance:
Work closely with compliance firm to ensure PAC conforms to all applicable state and federal law.
