PAC Compliance Accounting Manager

Credit Union National Association (CUNA), based in Washington, D.C., 1 block from the Archives/Navy Metro stop, is the premier national trade association serving America's credit unions. The not-for-profit trade group is governed by a volunteer board of directors who are elected by their credit union peers. In partnership with state credit union leagues, CUNA provides many services to credit unions, including representation, information and public relations.

CUNA is seeking a Political Action Committee (PAC) Compliance Accounting Manager to work within our fast-paced Political Affairs Division. This position serves as the Credit Union League Action Council (CULAC) Data Management and FEC Compliance person. This position is responsible for:

o The management of the PAC's FEC compliance in relation to accounting and finance functions at CUNA.
o Assists the Political Director in coordinating the day-to-day duties of the PAC Accounting Specialist including data entry, account reconciliation, troubleshooting, and oversees the Political Affairs Administrative Coordinator 's role in receipt deposits.
o Works closely with the PAC Accounting Specialist to advise the Political Director and the Senior Vice President of Political Affairs, on CULAC's on-going cash position.
o Prepares monthly (and, as needed, daily and weekly) financials, and interfaces with external and internal auditors.
o Serves as the main advisor and contact for CULAC program staff and leagues on FEC PAC compliance and accounting processes for all fundraising programs and disbursement.
o Reviews and serve as backup to PAC Accounting Specialist in reconciling month-end reconciliation of regular CULAC accounts.
o Coordinates and oversees the preparation of monthly Federal Election Commission filings for CULAC.
o Works with Political Director and CULAC program staff to assist leagues in the structure and processes of joint fundraising accounts between CULAC and relevant state PACs, including Payroll Deduction Escrow Account and other similar fundraising models.
o Serve as principle league contact on technical FEC best practices accounting issues and troubleshooting relevant to joint fundraising programs.
o Works with Political Director, Grassroots Director of Grassroots Advocacy, and IT department personnel to provide oversight on the continued development and implementation of CUNA's Grassroots and Political System (GPS) and any subsequent PAC and/or grassroots database.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in accounting, finance or related field. Proficiency in accounting, database management software, spreadsheet and word processing software (such as Microsoft Excel) are required along with two to three years experience in accounting, database management or related experience. Strong organizational, prioritization, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and verbal/written communication skills are necessary. Basic knowledge of FEC law and/or PAC compliance is a plus.
