Manager, Public Policy

AAA Auto Club South, the 3rd largest affiliate club of the American Automobile Association, serving over 4 million members throughout Florida, Georgia, areas of Tennessee and, Puerto Rico, seeks a Manager, Public Policy to support our legislative advocacy and lobbying efforts.

Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, our Club's 2,800 employees serve AAA members, property & casualty insurance clients and retail travel agency clients throughout our territory.  With a strong reputation as a helpful, service- minded organization, Auto Club South knows that people drive our success.  

Key functions:

  • Identifies, develops and implements grassroots initiatives and campaigns to inform and engage Members and the motoring public in support of Auto Club South's legislative policies
  • Develops member and public communication tools and programs, including printed materials, political awareness programs, AAA.com, CapWiz, email messaging, e-News, AAA Going Places magazine and various events
  • Serves as policy expert on all priority issues and acts as the key contact for members, employees and the media
  • Coordinates strategy development to include annual strategy meetings, debriefing sessions, Legislator meetings and member surveys
  • Organizes activities of and provides communication between lobbyists, internal leadership and staff, advisory boards and AAA National

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in political science, public policy, communications or related field
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in Public Affairs focusing on grassroots advocacy, traffic safety or communications
  • Good understanding of the legislative process; strong writing, computer and time management skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.  Experience with CapWiz preferred
