The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) has an immediate need for Manager, Government Programs within its Washington Operations Office located in Washington, DC.
The main duties of this position include leading B&W's lobbying activities before the U.S. Government, including Congress and the Executive Branch, on B&W's U.S. Government contracts outside of the Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program. These lobbying activities would include those U.S. Department of Energy, other Federal Agency and commercial contracts under B&W's Technical Services Group, including the Y-12 National Security Complex, Pantex Plant, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Idaho National Laboratory, the Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project, and the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
The applicant must have extensive experience with national security, energy and environmental matters before the U.S. Congress and Executive Branch and must have relevant and senior Congressional policy experience on these matters.
In addition to lobbying, duties would include, communicating and notifying Congress, the Executive Branch, State governments, Washington-based think tanks and other important stakeholder and external oversight groups on ongoing B&W activities; developing and advising B&W senior management, including its Technical Services Group, on strategies to advance the Company's business interests in an increasingly competitive market place, writing reports and position papers, and public speaking before groups and conferences. Job Requirements:
The applicant must have a minimum of a college degree, be willing to travel outside of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, be willing to work unusual hours.
the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance is required (REQUIRES US CITIZENSHIP)
Additional graduate work and/or prior work experience in the aforementioned policy areas preferred.
