Job Description

  • As a member of the Corporate Communication team, the Manager, Federal Government Relations supports the Director, Government Relations and Public Affairs, in carrying out the company's strategy and associated activites relative to governmental issues that affect our businesses.

  • Effectively promote Thermo Fisher's capabilities and leadership with public officials in government agencies and legislative branches.

  • Collaborate in the development of public policy initiatives to drive business opportunities with federal programs
  • Monitor and track legislation, regulations and appropriations to leverage the company's federal business development.
  • Coordinate and implement outreach efforts with Congress and federal agencies to promote a positive image of the company and its capabilities.
  • Arrange and help prepare materials for Thermo Fisher meetings with Members of Congress, staff and professional commmittee staff.
  • nitiate outreach and coordination of third party advocacy organizations and allied stakeholders in order to achieve company legislative and regulatory business goals.
  • Represent Thermo Fisher at political fundraisers and other related events.
  • Provide input and recommendations for PAC contributions and participate in PAC solicitation efforts as needed.
  • Collaborate with retained lobbying firms to meet business objectives and achieve desired goals.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience relating to government or industry with a government relations focus
  • Complete and solid understanding of government, the legislative and regulatory process
  • Strong knowledge of the political and electoral process
  • 4-year degree in marketing, political science, communications or a related field, advanced degree preferred
  • 25% Travel?
