General Summary
This position will be focused on ensuring that our products are seen in the marketplace as ethical and consumer-friendly and that we quickly and responsibly respond to consumer concerns and complaints. This highly visible position will report to the General Counsel.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategic programs and activities that maintain public interest in, understanding of and good will towards Company
Primary responsibilities include writing, planning, coordinating and executing the Company's consumer advocacy relations and coalition-building efforts
Identify opportunities to improve current products or add new products to address any issues raised by consumers or consumer groups
Assist in responding to inquiries on various advocacy issues
Assist in proactively seeking placement of consumer policy editorial and online content
Assist in the writing and distribution of all online and social media forum content
Respond to customer complaints
Perform regular customer surveys to identify opportunities for improvement and to benchmark customer satisfaction
Work with BBB and other non-governmental monitoring agencies
Direct all charitable contributions, community involvement of Company and the active engagement and participation of all employees
Experience and Education
Four-year degree in economics, business or political science and 2-4 years participation in media relations/communications/consumer advocacy. Experience required in advocacy writing, social media forum participation, collateral design and multimedia content developmentProfessional experience in Hill, campaign and/or state and local politics preferred, but not required
Experience in financial services industry is a plus, but not required
Required Skills, Abilities, Soft Skill Factors
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills a must
Must demonstrate the capability to partner with other divisions of the company
Must be passionate about the customer experience
Must be highly ethical and be able to build trust with consumer groups
Ability to work with hostile audiences and build consensus
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and willing to push hard to make needed improvements
Must be curious and eager to learn all aspects of the business that impact customers - from the customer interface to risk management to customer support and collections
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
