Manager, Community Relations

The Manager of Community Relations role will be part of the Strategic Assets - Business Affairs Group and provide overall support and leadership to the enterprise-wide community involvement strategy and programs.  Business Affairs is a multi-functional department with wide-spread accountabilities providing enterprise direction and support around Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the related issue areas of Community Relations, Health & Wellness and Environmental Stewardship. Other areas of functional involvement include Regional External Affairs, Government Relations and Supplier Diversity.

The Community Relations team works to enhance ARAMARK's image in the community by developing and promoting programs that will demonstrate the company's commitment to its corporate citizenship mission while engaging its 250,000 worldwide employees in meaningful volunteer service. This role will primarily support the interests of ARAMARK's Global Food, Hospitality & Facilities group and interact with multiple corporate departments and lines of business, external stakeholder groups and leaders.

The Manager of Community Relations will work with the community relations team (AVP, Director and Manager), in key operating regions to assist with implementation of the enterprise-wide community relations strategy focusing on ARAMARK Building Community, signature philanthropic and volunteer program. ARAMARK Building Community provides grants, in-kind support and engages employees in skills based volunteer activities to strengthen local community centers.  This position will report to the Associate Vice President of Community Relations.

The Manager of Community Relations will need to connect the business agenda with broader reputation and social issues, while understanding and incorporating the commercial drivers for the business into the ongoing execution and development of the community involvement agenda. Knowledge in the areas of Community Relations, Philanthropy, Cause and Social Marketing, Public Relations, event management, non-profit management is preferred.

Primary Functions:
  • Assist in the management and activation of the company signature volunteer and philanthropic program, ARAMARK Building Community. This includes acting as a liaison between internal audiences (Star Teams and businesses) and external non-profit partners to execute programs and events around the world.
  • Support the development of programs and curriculum to help move the companies' business and social agenda forward in the areas of workforce readiness, health and wellness and basic human needs.
  • Support measurement, evaluation and data management processes.
  • Manage the ARAMARK Building Community grant program and Innovation Awards.
  • Support strategic partnerships and working relationships with non-profit organizations and civic leaders.
  • Position ARAMARK as a leader and advocate for volunteerism, community centers and corporate citizenship. Represents ARAMARK with national and local industry organizations.
  • Supports ARAMARK Volunteer programs and acts as a Community Relations consultant for ARAMARK Star Teams and ARAMARK businesses.
  • Involved in data management in the form of benchmarking, client/employee surveys and measurement evaluation
  • Ensures compliance with company's overall corporate citizenship and community involvement framework.

Qualifications, Expectations & Other Highlights:
  • Bachelors degree in a related field; Masters a plus
  • 5-7 years experience in corporate community relations, non-profit management, philanthropy or social service advocacy with experience in a corporate community relations role ideal.
  • Excellent communications, writing and presentation skills. Social media experience a plus.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and partnerships with outside organizations and represent company interests
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with senior executives within ARAMARK, at client and target companies and in the non profit sector.
  • Event management experience.
  • Expertise in program and curriculum development and outcome measurement processes.
  • Knowledge of workforce development arena a plus.
  • Strong organizational, project management and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of the Philadelphia community preferred.
  • Ability to work under deadlines.
  • Knowledge of civic/non-profit organizations and a demonstrated commitment to community.
  • Ability to travel; travel (primarily domestic and some international) will be required and targeted for 30%.
