Manager Asia Pacific, Public Relations Asia Pacific

Job Description

  • Develop and implement public relations and stakeholder relations strategies and plans for the Asia Pacific region
  • Handle media and stakeholder requests; act as a spokesperson for the company in the region
  • Roll out and manage monitoring and measurement systems on a regional basis for media and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate and liaise with global team on global news releases and other public information materials
  • Develop materials for the region and provide consultation to BASF communicators from countries and business units on local or trade media materials
  • Maintain relationships with media and stakeholders in the region; line up and support appropriate interaction opportunities for BASF senior management up to and including the Board Member for Asia Pacific
  • Lead public relations aspects of selected regional level events and consult with country and business unit communicators on media aspects of local and trade events
  • Create and manage joint programs or events with media and selected stakeholders
  • Support information collection and maintenance for corporate publications
  • Maintain Hong Kong-level crisis communications readiness and support regional implementation of crisis communications readiness
  • Manage and support media and stakeholder dialogue training for regional spokespeople
  • Monitor and engage with relevant online platforms
  • Oversee Hong Kong-level stakeholder dialogue; and support regional roll-out of stakeholder dialogue programs 

    Qualifications

  • 6-10 years' experience in the public relations / public affairs industry, either in an agency or in-house position
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English is a necessity; fluency in Mandarin and Cantonese is a significant advantage.
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong relationships with international media are a must; relationships with local Hong Kong media, related trade media, and local / international NGOs will be an advantage
  • Active understanding of and participation in key international or local social media platforms
  • Dynamic, creative and proactive working style
  • Technical knowledge of chemistry is not a must, but enthusiasm for corporate or B2B topics is crucial.
