The
American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) is looking for an individual who
has established relationships on Capitol Hill and sound knowledge of the
legislative process and Medicare policy to join our Government Relations team.
This position will be responsible for advocating on behalf of the Society by
educating members of Congress, their staffs and federal agency officials about
ASTRO/radiation oncology issues. Additional responsibilities will include
working with ASTRO grassroots efforts and the ASTRO PAC as well as providing
support to our volunteer committees and subcommittees. Individual must
have:
A bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
A minimum of 4
years' experience working for a member of Congress, federal agency or
professional/trade association in the government relations area.
Solid
knowledge of the legislative and executive branch operations, activities and
personnel as well as training in healthcare policy and/or a scientific/medical
field.
Excellent research, written and oral communications, analytical and
organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively independently as well as
be a productive team member.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the
ability to relate well to all levels of individuals.
