Nationally recognized not for profit housing and community development association seeks qualified and motivated candidates to assist the Director of Congressional Relations as a legislative liason between the association and key committees of jurisdiction in both the House and Senate. Responsibilities also involve monitoring and reporting on Congressional actions impacting upon the association's legislative agenda. Candidates will also assist the Director in the organization and coordination of federal legislative advocacy efforts among the associations network of more than 22,000 members. Assistance in public affairs and media, advocacy training and events will also be assigned as required.
Candidates must have at least five years of professional experience; excellent oral and written communications skills including some public speaking experience; two-three years of Capital Hill experience and/or a specific working knowledge of the federal legislative processes. A background in federal housing and community development programs is also desired.
Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate association positions, information and concerns. Candidates must be timely, well organized; detail and deadline oriented and must be able to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously. Knowledge of a variety of databases, database management and skills involving the organization and presentation of information is also critical. Finally, candidates must be energetic, creative and willing to present new and innovative approaches to legislative advocacy, communications and field operations
Incumbent reports to Director of Congressional Relations. Salary is commensurate with experience.
