Supervisor: Director of Government Affairs

Position Summary:
This position will assist in the research, development, analysis and advancement of Grifols state and federal public policy agenda focused on promoting access to the company's life-saving medicines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree; master's degree in health policy strongly preferred
- Minimum 5 to 7 years experience as a policy analyst with a pharmaceutical manufacturer, state Medicaid office, Medicare/Medicaid advocacy organization, or at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
- Strong background in Medicaid, Medicare, 340B drug discount programs and managed care payment systems.
- Detailed knowledge of public and private-payor coverage/reimbursement of specialty pharmaceutical, single-source drugs. Specific knowledge of plasma-derived products a plus
- Understanding of state health reform implementation requirements under the Affordable Care Act
- Willingness to travel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Major Tasks:
- Assist in the development, analysis and implementation of Grifols strategic plans for state and federal advocacy
- Advance Grifols public policy objectives through contact with state and federal legislators / regulators
- Analyze and monitor all relevant state legislative and regulatory activity
- Assist in the management of state contract lobbyists
- Draft comments for submission to state and federal regulators on proposed rules of interest
- Prepare and disseminate position papers, briefs, letters and written testimony
- Help coordinate Grifols' patient advocacy and grassroots efforts
- Participate in coalition meetings and policy briefings
- Contribute to the overall mission of the Grifols Government and Public Affairs Department
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the prioritization and advancement of the company's public policy agenda in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Moreover, the successful candidate will be responsible for projecting the highest values and ethics consistent with Grifols corporate policies at all times. Travel will be required.
Major Relationships:
Internal - Grifols senior management, Government and Public Affairs staff, sales and marketing personnel, and plasma donation center management.
External - State and federal legislators and staff, state and federal agency officials, patient stakeholder advocates, contract lobbyists, and industry association contacts.
