The National Partnership for Women & Families is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, organization that uses public education and advocacy to promote fairness in the workplace, quality health care, and policies that help women and men meet the dual demands of work and family.
The Partnership is seeking to hire a health care quality Outreach Manager for an initiative funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The Americans for Quality Health Care project is building a nationwide consumer movement to improve health care quality and increase the transparency and accountability of the health care system.
Position Summary
The Outreach Manager will research and analyze communities to determine leadership structures, identify potential consumer advocacy groups for recruitment, and secure partners for Project collaboration.
The Outreach Manager will also analyze local and national health care quality improvement efforts and then compare those initiatives with the goals, interests, and capacities of the consumer groups to identify ways that the consumer advocacy groups can engage effectively in health care quality improvement efforts at the local and national levels.
The Outreach Manager will recruit consumer advocacy organizations to engage in the Project's initiatives; provide consumer advocates with educational materials; track federal and state health care quality legislation and regulations; assist in planning regional and state meetings and conferences for consumer advocates; develop training modules and informational materials for consumer advocates; assist in maintaining an interactive web communications system and advocacy database; and research and write various documents on Project's key issues.
Additional Qualifications
Applicants will have a college degree, graduate degree preferred, and ideally a minimum of five-years grassroots organizing or related experience. Excellent organizational, research, writing, and interpersonal skills a must. Position requires superior presentation skills, personal initiative and high energy. Knowledge of health care issues and health care quality issues in particular - preferred, as well as some experience dealing with health care issues at the national level. Travel required.
