Health and Science Policy Manager

The Health and Science Policy Manager will play a key role in analysis of state, federal, and private sector policies affecting impacting patient health, care delivery, and clinical research. The manager will provide insight of these issues to the foundation and represent the positions of the foundation to state, federal, and private-sector policy-makers.  Position responsibilities include:

Manage the health policy grants and contracts portfolio. This portfolio includes partnerships and oversight on various health initiatives including pain management, health information technology, and patient privacy, security, and consent issues.

Maintain direct interaction with government (state and federal) and advocacy partners through phone, email, and physical visits. 

Establish and maintain relationships with institutional and corporate entities including healthcare facilities, healthcare providers, and insurance companies. This will include representing the positions of the foundation in communications with these entities and reporting to the Director on policy implications regarding these entities.

Provide substantive analyses for State and Federal legislative and policy issues and manage LIVESTRONG positions. These positions will include, but are not limited to: pain management, tobacco regulation, comprehensive care planning, clinical trials, Medicaid/Medicare, and cancer research. These analyses and recommendations will be made to the Director to assist with strategic planning of the foundation.

Serve as a policy representative to the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). This will include attending meetings and briefings, communicating with CPRIT staff, and assisting the Director in managing the foundation's relationship with CPRIT.

Work closely with multiple teams across LIVESTRONG, specifically the Government Relations team, to ensure all processes are seamless and effective and communication is clear. This position will help provide analyses of the impact of state and federal policies to help guide planning and communications.

Work closely with external partners through regular communication, education and collaboration. This will also require occasional travel to assist and/or represent the Director of Science and Policy with external partners.

Be knowledgeable, aware and able to discuss LIVESTRONG resources and services for people affected by cancer.

Perform other duties as assigned.
