Head of Regulatory Affairs & Corporate Communications

Position Description:

The incumbent will provide strategic leadership and global direction to the Company's regulatory relations, communications, marketing and regulatory permitting functions.   S/he will have overall responsibility for setting short- and long-term regulatory and legislative plans consistent with the company's overall business strategy and direction, and for executing these plans across all noted functional areas on a global basis. 

Roles & Responsibilities:

Oversees the entire legislative and regulatory process for programs, project applications and initiatives requiring government approval and/or government support on a state and federal level, and internationally as needed.  Ensures that all necessary applications are filed and handled by all government agencies.  Develops procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.  Proactively addresses regulatory and legislative roadblocks. Develops and Pursues legislative goals at state, federal, and international level, working with Business leads to further business goals through policy.

Plans and directs all aspects of the organization's marketing policies, objectives and initiatives.  Identifies changes in the marketing environment or competitive strategies and evaluates, adjusts or redirects the organization's marketing plans and philosophy accordingly. 

Plans and directs communications programs that effectively describe and promote the organization and its products.  Oversees market or public opinion research to assess program outcomes.  Approves promotional campaign ideas in various types of media as well as counsels top management on effective communication strategies. 

Coordinates with the investor relations executive to ensure consistency between internal and external communications programs with investors and securities analysts. Work with Finance to develop and execute our investor relations strategy and impact on financial markets.

Leads the company's initiatives relative to corporate branding and market positioning across all constituents and on a global basis.   Act as a trusted advisor to functional area executives to develop, communicate and execute programs that continue to further define the company's brand and meet the organizations communication needs.  Includes research (community, national, international, etc.), strategic planning for corporate positioning, corporate messaging, tactical execution, advertising programs, brand maintenance, style guide management.

Develop forums to facilitate the collection of feedback on industry developments and the company's position in the marketplace. 

Acts as the primary media spokesperson for the organization.  Responsible for management of media outreach planning and executive media training.

Develops and implements an annual Global communications plan ensuring the alignment of regional plans to the global vision and strategy.

Proactively provides strategic communications counsel to senior management.

Responsible for Crisis Preparedness and Response including management of crisis communications process and protocols, training and preparedness.

Works closely with SVPHR on employee communications including employee engagement research, program development and execution, management of publications and intranet.

Manages the company Website and Intranet.

Oversee charitable donations, including program development, review of requests/approval process, execution.

Required Skills & Experience:

A Bachelor's Degree in business or other related field required, comparable job experience may be substituted. 

Juris Doctor and MBA degree highly desirable.

A minimum of 15 to 20 years of Public Relations, Communications, Regulatory Relations and Legal Counsel required

National media relations experience in the traditional and the new media/social media space required.

Ability to translate strategic messages into creative and accurate presentations.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.

Excellent business or legal judgment; able to identify and resolve issues before they become problems.

Must exhibit ethical behaviors in an authentic manner.
