Qualifications: Public Affairs is looking to hire a Public Affairs Manager to join its team. The ideal candidate must be a highly motivated individual who demonstrates a strong commitment to the Company's Values and Mission. Bachelor's degree, preferably in Political Science, Urban/Community Relations, Business Administration, Economics and a minimum of three years working experience required. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, be a self-starter and be detail-oriented. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills required. Extensive previous experience dealing with elected and appointed officials and their staff approved. Comprehensive knowledge of the legislative process, political system and lobbying preferred. Must be proficient in the use of Databases. Experience with Legislator Direct and Democracy Direct databases a definite plus. Must be proficient in web management
Responsibilities: The selected candidate will prepare and coordinate legislative action alerts and reports (grassroots program). Assist in the development and implementation of a grassroots network by designing and developing materials for an annual grassroots membership campaign, recruiting and training volunteers for the campaign, facilitating and implementing the campaign. Update and maintain Government Relations website including legislative action alerts, legislative reports, letters to elected officials, etc. Maintain elected officials information database. Assist in the development, maintenance and growth of CEIPAC (Con Edison Inc. Employee Political Action Committee). Will be responsible for the preparation of briefing books and elected official notifications. Assist in the development and implementation of issues management program and serve as liaison between subject matter experts and the department. Assist the director and vice president of Government Relations and Sr. Vice President of Public Affairs in preparation of responses to legislators, committees and agencies as needed
- Assist in the preparation of position papers and briefings, upon request, to the Chairman and executives of the Company regarding issues in Albany. The Public Affairs Manager will serve as emergency responder and participate in all aspects of Public Affairs responsibilities during emergencies and assist in preparation of emergency preparedness information. Will perform such special assignments as directed by the Senior Vice President of Public Affairs.
