Grassroots Coordinator/State Legislative Analyst

The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP), a national professional association of pharmacists and other health care practitioners who practice in managed care settings, is seeking an experienced government relations professional to manage its state/federal grassroots advocacy network and monitor relevant state legislation. The position reports to the Director of Government Relations.

Specific duties include: educating members about the importance of advocacy; coordinating the development and implementation of a sustainable state-based grassroots advocacy program including the recruitment of grassroots and grasstops assets; maintenance of a participant database and promotion of member involvement in political advocacy through legislative alerts, web site postings, publications, and electronic communication; tracking and analyzing state issues and trends to determine impact on the membership; coordinating strategy for advancing member interests on state legislative proposals, and working with coalitions and other organizations to coordinate state advocacy.

Qualified candidates will have at least four years government relations experience with a state or national health care association or advocacy organization where responsibilities included management of grassroots advocacy programs and monitoring of state legislation. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential to the position. Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational skills.
